Fifty years after its creation, Atholton High School continues to provide new opportunities for students seeking to become active participants in its community. This year, Atholton welcomes its first ever Activity Bus, a school-sponsored bus departing Atholton every Tuesday at 3:45 in the afternoon.
The King and Queen have been overthrown and a new Homecoming Court is in town. On October 5th, Atholton joined the ranks of trailblazing schools across the country who have switched from a boy-girl Homecoming court to one unbounded by gender restrictions.
Not everybody has to be an athlete to be on a team. Some of Atholton’s best team achievements have come from school sponsored clubs, like the Math Team. The math team has won second place in 2013, third in 2014 and 2015, and is aiming for gold in 2016.
This Friday, Atholton will take on the Gators. Despite a tough loss to Long Reach last week, the Raiders are still poised to make a great run and perhaps make the playoffs for the first time in four years. Many players use games like this not only as extra motivation, but also as a way to redirect their season and get back on track. These games can be the turning point in a team’s season.
