UPDATE 1/23/17: As the Super Bowl loomed ahead, Conference Championship Sunday came around. Four teams remained. Two teams came out alive. Which two organizations came out on top?
The New England Patriots sent the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers home with a 36-17 win. Quarterback, Tom Brady, completed 32 passes on 42 throws for 384 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions. On the other side of the spectrum, Ben Roethlisberger completed 31 passes on 47 attempts for 314 yards, a TD, and an INT. The normally explosive Steelers’ rushing game was very damp, with Le’Veon Bell getting injured and DeAngelo Williams only gaining 34 yards on 14 carries, despite a TD. New England wide receiver, Chris Hogan, had a very dominant game, gaining 180 yards and a pair of TDs on 9 receptions. Julian Edelman came to win as well, hauling in 8 receptions for 118 yards and a TD. The Patriots head to Houston to fight which team??
The Atlanta Falcons pinned Green Bay to the ground, defeating them by a score of 44-21. Ever since not throwing an interception since early December, Aaron Rodgers threw his second INT over the course of a fortnight. He did, however, throw for 287 yards and 3 touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers also achieved the most rushing yards for the team, gaining 46 yards on 4 carries. Jordy Nelson, in his return, caught 6 passes for 67 yards and a TD. On the Falcons’ side, however, it was all-out wreckage. Matt Ryan threw for 398 yards and 4 TDs. Julio Jones had a game exactly like Chris Hogan, catching 9 passes for 180 yards and a pair of TDs. The Falcons venture from their home field to NRG Stadium in Houston to clash with New England for the oh, so prestigious Vince Lombardi Trophy. Who do I have hoisting the trophy into the sky to the approval of many?
SCORE PREDICTION: Patriots 27-24 Falcons.
